While we know there are probably thousands of unapproved drug products being marketed in the US, many of which claim to be dietary supplements which have undeclared drugs in their composition, the danger of these products cannot be understated.  Just search the web for erectile disfunction products, weigh loss products, products claiming to prevent, cure or treat a host of diseases and it won’t take you long to make a list longer than your arm.  Here are the most current products the FDA has issued health warnings, warning letters, or has begun other regulatory actions:

  • New Fast-Act Rheumatism Capsule contains the hidden drug ingredient Indomethacin.
  • UA-Block contains the hidden drug ingredient Indomethacin.
  • Phentamene XT contains the hidden drug ingredient dimethylamylamine or methylhexanamine.
  • Honey Girl contains the hidden drug ingredient sildenafil.
  • Infinity 10K contains the hidden drug ingredients tadalafil and sildenafil.
  • Infinity contains the hidden drug ingredient sildenafil.
  • Mega 9K 800000 contains the hidden drug ingredients tadalafil and sildenafil.
  • Meta Forte contains the hidden drug ingredients tadalafil and sildenafil.
  • Natural MiracleZEN GOLD 60000 contains the hidden drug ingredients sildenafil and tadalafil.
  • XXX Zone 40K contains the hidden drug ingredients sildenafil and tadalafil.

It looks like ED product will win the prize for the most products for which the FDA has issued warnings in this 11-day period but the other products are just as dangerous. Catchy names and big numbers included in the names, I guess are supposed to get consumers excited (no pun intended). The sheer volume of these unapproved drug products and illegal dietary supplement products out there online in the “webisphere” and available in some stores presents a challenge for the FDA which only has finite resources. Chasing the bad guys appears to be like playing Wac-A-Mole, clobber one and another pops up (again no pun intended).
